Richard Morgan Fliehr, better known by his ring name Ric Flair, is a semi-retired American professional wrestler. Flair is a multiple-time holder of various World Heavyweight Championships: NWA, WCW, and WWE.
In Japan
Flair's first Japanese tour was IWE's "Big Summer Series" in 1973/6. During the tour, he often teamed with the Texas Outlaws: Dick Murdoch & Dusty Rhodes. He also had a cage match against the company's top star Rusher Kimura.
Since then, he has had more than sixty Japanese tours, many of which were for the NWA world title defenses in All Japan Pro-Wrestling against Jumbo Tsuruta, Tenryū Gen'ichirō, Harley Race, Terry Funk, The Great Kabuki, Chōshū Riki, Yatsu Yoshiaki, and Wajima Hiroshi.
In 1984, he regained the title which he had recently lost in Texas from Kerry Von Erich. In the following year, Flair had the one and only double title match between NWA and AWA World Heavyweight Champions against Rick Martel.
On 1991/3/21, Flair wrestled on a New Japan Pro-Wrestling for the first time and faced IWGP champion Fujinami Tatsumi at Tokyo Dome. At this point, Flair was referred to as "WCW" world champion while still being recognized by National Wrestling Alliance as the world champion. The match had a controversial ending, and Fujinami was recognized as NWA world champion in Japan while Flair continued to defend his WCW title in the United States. The dispute ended on 1991/5/19 in St. Petersburg, Florida when Flair defeated Fujinami by pinning with a "school boy" with a handful of tights.
Flair continued to wrestle for New Japan. In 1995/4, he faced Antonio Inoki in North Korea.
